To all:
A BIG expression of THANK YOU to the Qualicum Lawn Bowls Club. This
event happened GRATIS your indoor club.
Members Dawn Rigg and George Opacic, showed up on a cool Saturday
morning and got things ready for the Nanaimo Blind Lawn Bowls Club.
There were 7 blind and sight impaired bowlers along with directors,
drivers and helpers, all treated to a unique opportunity to bowl and
have a rare get together off season. Among the group was Tracey Meikle,
a sight impaired bowler and national blind curler and Qualicum resident.
This is not the first time members of this group have had access to
the indoor facility. On a number of occasions we have used it for
practice when preparing for international events.
Qualicum is fortunate to have both the outdoor and indoor facilities and
the local communities are fortunate that they are willing to share them,
the only lawn bowls club in North America to have both. The Blind
Bowls club actually got its start in Qualicum back in the early 1980's
and it is nice that connection is still there.
Thank you again from the NLBC BLIND LAWN BOWLERS.
